A professional press tool is only one part of the connection. The fitting system, pipe or tube material, maximum size, jaw or ring family and any required actuator all have to line up. This hub organizes those decisions before you compare brands or buy a kit.
Start with the connection, not the logo on the tool
For ProPress, MegaPress, PureFlow, ACR and other press systems, the useful question is not simply “which press tool is best?” It is “which tool and attachment combination is approved for this fitting system, material and largest size?”

Copper, stainless, carbon steel/black iron, PEX and refrigeration copper do not share one universal jaw path. Material can change the fitting system and the attachment profile required.
A tool that is ideal through 1-1/4 inch may not be the right platform if your work regularly reaches 2, 2-1/2 or 4 inches. Larger sizes can also move from direct jaws to rings and actuators.
Tool class is not enough. RIDGID Mini, Compact and Standard are distinct attachment families, Milwaukee separates M12 and M18 direct-jaw systems, and DEWALT separates DCE210 Compact from DCE200 Standard attachments.
Once compatibility is satisfied, tight-space access, service frequency, battery platform, reporting features and the attachments you already own become useful buying criteria.
Compact and standard are useful selection categories, but they are not interchangeable technical standards. A compact tool can be the better service tool when access matters, while a standard tool can be the better platform when larger fittings and ring systems are routine.

A tool-only price can be misleading when the job requires multiple direct jaws, pivoting rings or a dedicated actuator. Before comparing kits, identify which sizes use direct jaws and which move to rings. Then check whether the actuator is included, sold separately or already part of an attachment kit you own.
