How to read a jaw or ring result
Press compatibility is not a single question. A complete setup has at least four layers: the press tool interface, the jaw or ring family, the fitting system, and the connection size. Rings add another layer because the ring itself normally needs the correct actuator or ring jaw.
The finder therefore does not say only “yes” or “no.” It identifies the attachment family, exact catalog number when verified, required actuator or ring jaw, the relevant source, and a compatibility status. If manufacturer documents conflict, the result is deliberately downgraded to UNKNOWN — VERIFY WITH MANUFACTURER.
Direct jaws vs. rings and actuators
A direct jaw installs into the press tool and closes around the fitting. A press ring wraps around the fitting separately and is driven by a compatible actuator or ring jaw. That difference matters when you are buying accessories or trying to reuse an attachment from another kit.
Better access or larger sizes
Rings can provide access around installed pipe and are required for some larger sizes. The ring does not stand alone: the correct actuator or X-series ring jaw is part of the approved setup.
Cross-brand compatibility is the exception, not the rule
Some tool manufacturers explicitly approve selected attachment families made by another manufacturer. Milwaukee's current matrix, for example, lists specific RIDGID Compact ProPress and PureFlow jaw catalog families for the M12 FORCE LOGIC tool, and selected RIDGID Standard families for M18 FORCE LOGIC tools.
That does not mean “all compact jaws fit all compact tools.” Approval is tied to exact families and catalog numbers. The safest path is to verify the tool model and attachment against the latest matrix before use, especially with legacy tools or a second-hand jaw whose markings are incomplete.
Example of why source conflicts matter:
Milwaukee's 2026 compatibility matrix lists RIDGID RLS RJ Series jaws for the M12 FORCE LOGIC 2573/2473. RIDGID's current RLS instruction sheet, however, says those jaws do not work with other brands of press tool. The finder flags that combination for manufacturer verification rather than silently choosing one document over the other.

Common compatibility mistakes this finder is designed to prevent
- Matching only by size. A 1-inch ProPress jaw and a 1-inch MegaPress jaw are different attachment families.
- Assuming M12 and M18 direct jaws interchange. Milwaukee uses separate direct-jaw interfaces even when both tools support the same fitting system.
- Buying a ring without its actuator. The ring may be correct but unusable without the matching C1, V-series or X-series actuator/ring jaw.
- Treating “Compact” as a universal standard. Compact is a useful class description, not permission to mix any compact tool and jaw.
- Ignoring legacy model numbers. Current and discontinued tool generations can share some attachments, but that relationship should come from a current matrix rather than appearance.
- Using retailer listings as technical proof. Merchant fitment text can help discover a product, but the compatibility status on this site is based on manufacturer documentation.

Press jaw compatibility FAQs
Are press jaws interchangeable between brands?
Not by default. Some cross-brand combinations are explicitly listed in a tool manufacturer's compatibility matrix, while many others are not. A jaw physically fitting into a tool is not enough to establish approval for the fitting system. Check the exact tool model, jaw or ring family, size and current manufacturer documentation.
Which jaws fit the Milwaukee M12 FORCE LOGIC 2573 press tool?
Milwaukee's 2026 matrix lists M12-specific CTS-V and IPS-P jaws and rings for supported systems, plus selected third-party attachment families such as RIDGID Compact ProPress and PureFlow jaws. The exact approved family depends on the fitting system and size, so the finder should be used with both fields selected rather than treating every compact jaw as interchangeable.
Can RIDGID Compact ProPress jaws be used with a Milwaukee M12 press tool?
Milwaukee's 2026 Press Tool Compatibility Matrix lists RIDGID Compact ProPress jaw catalog numbers 16958, 16963, 16978 and 31228 as compatible with the M12 FORCE LOGIC 2573 family. Because cross-brand approvals can change, verify the latest matrix for the exact tool generation before use.
Do press rings require an actuator or ring jaw?
Usually, yes. A ring is not normally installed directly in the press tool. For example, RIDGID Compact ProPress and compact MegaPress rings use the C1 actuator, while Milwaukee pivoting rings use a matching X-series ring jaw such as X3, X4 or X5 depending on tool platform and size.
Can RIDGID RLS jaws be used with the Milwaukee M12 2573?
The current manufacturer documents conflict. Milwaukee's 2026 matrix lists RIDGID RLS RJ Series jaws for the M12 FORCE LOGIC 2573/2473, while RIDGID's current RLS jaw instruction sheet says those jaws do not work with other brands of press tool. Are Milwaukee M12 and M18 press jaws interchangeable?

Why does the exact press size matter if the jaw family is correct?
The size can change both the attachment and the required actuator. A system may use direct jaws at smaller sizes and rings at larger sizes, and the same ring family may require a different actuator or ring jaw above a certain size. Selecting the exact size prevents a family-level match from being mistaken for a complete setup.
