RIDGID 300 Pipe Threader: Power Drive, Complete Setup & Die Heads

The RIDGID 300 is a long-running Power Drive platform that can be used alone, configured as a complete threading machine, or paired with additional fabrication accessories. The important buying question is not simply “300 or not?” but exactly which 300 configuration and tooling are included.

The word “300” does not tell you what is included

A Model 300 Power Drive, a 300 Complete threading setup and a used 300 mounted with a different carriage/head package can represent very different purchases. Verify the catalog/configuration and included tooling before comparing price.

Threading capacity: direct vs. geared

RIDGID rates the 300 Power Drive for 1/8–2 inch pipe directly. That direct capacity is the useful number when you are comparing ordinary machine die heads.

For larger pipe, the platform can drive separate geared threaders: Model 141 for 2-1/2–4 inches and Model 161 for 4–6 inches. These are not oversized versions of an 811A die head. They are additional geared systems with their own setup requirements.

Do not advertise 6-inch capacity without the qualifier.

The 300 can support larger threading through geared threaders, but a standard 300 Complete package does not directly cut a 6-inch thread with its ordinary machine die head.

811A and Universal dies in current Complete configurations

RIDGID's current 300 Complete ordering information commonly shows an 811A quick-opening die head together with Universal alloy dies for the common 1/2–3/4 and 1–2 inch ranges. RIDGID also publishes an 811A BSPT head, so the machine platform is not limited to NPT when the correct head and dies are installed.

The 811A is part of RIDGID's Universal machine-head ecosystem. That matters when buying replacement dies because Universal machine dies and portable 12-R dies are different product families even when both are intended to cut NPT pipe threads.

RIDGID 300 vs. 535: the practical distinction

The 300 is fundamentally a modular Power Drive platform. The 535 is a dedicated threading-machine family with an integrated oil tray/chip tray, high-clearance carriage and multiple machine-head/chuck configurations. Both can serve serious production work, but the workflow and package architecture differ.
